Microscopes 310A, 310B and 310C are folding linen testers, or linen provers, and should be dated to the mid or late 20th century. These instruments would be used for counting threads in fabrics (the number of threads per unit of length provides evidence of a higher quality of cloth). The makers of these instruments are unknown. However, microscope 310B looks identical to a X7 linen prover featured in a 1970s catalogue of LOMO/Zenith (Figure 1).
