Microscope 558 is a magnifying glass for dissection, probably dated to the early 19th century and with a French origin. Figure 1 below shows this same instrument as featured in a 1929 catalogue of E. Vion (in which is named as loupe montée pour la dissection), and in E. Deyrolle’s catalogues from 1900 and 1931 (here named as loupe montée modèle No. 0).
